I just found this wonderful 1912 Macon, GA badge. The badge is attached to red and white ribbons. The hanger says "Souvenir" and the drop has an eagle and two third national Confederate flags. The UCV is red and white. It says "Confederate Reunion - Macon, GA. May, 7-9, 1912". The top red ribbon is partially seperated.

Here is a hard to find UCV pinback of Winnie Davis issued at the New Orleans convention. The pinback has Winnie Davis on the pin with "Confederate Reunion, New Orleans, LA." The pinback is approximately 1 1/4 inches wide and made by the Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, N.J.

1898 Cincinnati GAR National Encampment Badge

The top suspension bar of the 1898 badge is gilt and partially enamelled, with the image of the Cincinnati Soldiers Memorial in the center oval. Around the oval are blue-enamelled banderoles inscribed "Delegate" and "32nd National Encampment". From the top bar hangs a disc with enamelled edges inscribed "Cincinnati, Queen City of the West 1898". In the disc are a balance scale and a crossed sword and caduceus, with the inscription "Juncta Juvant". The ribbon is gold. The lower pendant is gilt and depicts the GAR badge under a rising sun within an oak leaf wreath. Superimposed across these are the script letters "GAR" enamelled in red, white and blue. The reverse of the pendant is plain, except for the maker's mark "G.G. Braxmar, 10 Maiden Lane, New York" stamped at the bottom.

1897 Buffalo GAR National Encampment Badge

The 1897 badge is a very ornate, three-dimensional badge. The top bar is a gold-colored pinback inscribed "Delegate", with red and white enamelling. Suspended from this is the center drop, which is gilt with a three dimensional brown buffalo head. Above the buffalo is "31st NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT" and below is "Buffalo, NY 1897" in gold letters on a white enamelled field. The buffalo head is flanked by United States flags (two on each side), enamelled in full color with gold stars. From the center drop is suspended a gilt pendant in the shape of a GAR star, with intertwined "GAR" enamelled in red, white, and blue. The arms of the star show the branches of the service. A dark blue ribbon backs the badge. This badge was made by G.G. Braxmar, of New York City.

1896 St. Paul GAR National Encampment Badge

The 1896 badge has four parts, and no ribbon. The top suspension has the Minnesota seal centered on a shock of wheat, inscribeed "30th/ENCPT". Above the seal is the legend "L'Etoile du Nord". Suspended from the top bar is a choclate bronze double scroll, with intertwined "GAR" between them. The top scroll is inscribed "Saint Paul, 1896" and the bottom scroll is inscribed "Delegate". Suspended from that is a gold-washed drop depicting a spread eagle flanked by United States flags, perched on crossed cannons atop an enamelled representation of the flag. Behind the enamelled device are an anchor, crossed muskets and crossed swords. From this is suspended a choclate bronze pendant in the shape of the GAR star, with its symbols of the various branches of service, surrounding a bust portrait. The reverse of the second drop is inscribed "Pat Apld, Heeran Bros & Co. Pittsburgh, Pa." On the reverse of the star is inscribed "Presented by the Citizen COmmittee St. Paul, 1896".

1892 Washington GAR National Encampment Badge

The top suspension of the 1892 badge is chocolate bronze, with a profile bust of Washington in an oval and the inscription "Sept 1892". Above the portrait is a banderole inscribed "Washington". The ribbon is gold silk embroidered the intwined letters "G.A.R." in red, white, and blue. Suspended from the ribbon is a circular chocolate bronze pendant and an acanthus leaf suspension. The pendant has a silver center medallion depicting the Capitol and the inscription "Members 26th National Encampment". The reverse of the pendant is inscribed "Presented by the Citizens of Washington, DC". The reverse of the central medallion depicts the Grand Review Parade of 1865.

1891 Detroit GAR National Encampment Badge

The 1891 badge has a silver top bar inscribed "Michigan". The silver pendant has the profile bust of General William Sherman and the inscription "William Tecumseh Sherman/True and Honest". The pendant reverse has the Michigan state seal and the inscription "Silver National Encampment, G.A>R., Detroit, 1891". The ribbon is an American flag flanked by yellow edges. The badge was made by F. Smith & COmpany of Detroit and was issued in a brown leather hinged box.

The bronze, pin-back top suspension bar is inscribed "Columbus". Below that is an oval inscribed "1888", flanked by olive branches. Two bronze suspension chains support a bronze buckeye inscribed "G.A.R.". The buckeye is hinged and opens to reveal a profile bust of General U.S. Grant on one side and the inscription "Twenty Second National Encampment G.A.R. Columbus, Ohio Sept. 11, 1888" on the other. The badge is backed with a yellow, swallow-tail ribbon. What a cool badge!

SOLD!!! The 1887 National Encampment badge has a silver top suspension bar inscribed "St. Louis 1887", and bears a bronze GAR star in the center. The round pendant depicts a profile bust of John Logan encircled by the inscription "John A. Logan Patriot, Statesman, Model Volunteer". The reverse depicts the Missouri state seal encircled by the inscription "Delegate 21st Nat'l Encampment/Grand Army of the Republic". The ribbon on this badge is frayed and partly seperated at the medallion ring connector. Please call for more information.

Wow!!! This is a great gold presentation badge. The badge is engraved "Jacob Stanbaugh from Tod Post 29- G.A.R. Commander 1914" on the back of the GAR star. The small drop is engraved "QM 171 O.V.I.". These don't usually come on the market!

South Carolina Military Academy Badge

SCMA - South Carolina Military Academy Badge. Here is a hard to find 1880's badge for the military academy. The South Carolina Military Academy was established in 1842. In 1865 the Northern troops(Yankees) closed the military academy and it did not reopen until 1882. In 1910 the name was changed from the South Carolina Military Academy to the Citadel. This badge was jeweler made with a "T" bar pin on the back. On the front is a palmetto tree and a cresent moon with SCMA. There is a small chip out of the enamel above the cresent moon. These never surface. Don't miss it!
