A nice badge from a reunion of the Roosevelt's Rough Riders. The hanger is in the form of a bowie knife. A US flag ribbon hangs from the hanger. The large drop has teddy Roosevelt riding a bear! Written on the drop is "Teddy's Terrors - Los Angeles". The badge was made by "The M.C. Lilley & Co. - Columbus, O." as noted on the back of the drop. Very difficult to fin Rough Rider badges!

A very hard to find New Jersey monument badge. This great badge is from the 1905 monument dedication of the 9th New Jersey at New Berne, North Carolina. There is a red, white, and blue ribbon attached to the hanger. The hanger has "Dedication Monument to 9th N.J.V. - New Berne, N.C. May, '05". The monument is on the drop. On the back of the drop is "9th N.J. - 1861 - 1865". New Jersey monument in North Carolina - what a badge!

A great ribbon worn at the 1888 Grand Army of the Republic national encampment held at Columbus, Ohio. The ribbon is approximately 7 3/4 inches by 2 1/8 inches. Written on the ribbon is "DEP'T Minnesota - G.A.R. - 1888". The ribbon is an olive green color.

1896 Bremen, Georgia Union & Ex-Confederate Ribbon

A great ribbon from the 2nd reunion of the Bremen, Georgia Union and Ex-Confedereate Veterans Association held in 1896. The ribbon is half blue and half gray. Written on the ribbon in black is "2D Reunion of UNION and Ex-Confederate Veterans Association - BREMEN, GA. - August 12th, 1896." The ribbon is approximately 5 1/4 inches by 2 1/4 inches. A very hard ribbon to find!

United Confederate Veteran "Merrimac" Badge

A really neat badge worn by Confederate veterans commerating the Confederate war ship "MERRIMAC". As you know the "Merrimac" fought the Union war ship "Monitor" outside of Hampton Roads, Virginia. The badge has a combination of red and white ribbons. On the white ribbon has "Merrimac" in gold on the ribbon. It is very hard to find "Merrimac" stuff!

91st Illinois Infantry Ladder Badge

A really neat badge worn by a veteran of the 91st Illinois Volunteer Infantry. The four ladder badge has the tassel attached to the bottom drop. Most badges do not have the tassel. On the bars of the badge is "Co. E - 91 - Illinois - Vol. Inf.". Company E was staffed by soldiers from Kendall County, Illinois.

1st Iowa Cavalry Identified Ladder type Badge

A beautiful ladder type badge from the 1st Iowa Cavalry! The badge is identified to Charles L. Dustin. He mustered into Company F on 8/1/1861 and mustered out on 2/15/66. He was promoted 2nd LT on Oct. 29, 1861, 1st LT on 7/1/62 and Captain on July 18, 1863. The hanger has Co. F on it. The drop is a 7th corp symbol. On the drop is "1'' IOWA VOL. CAV. - Charles L. Dustin - War 1861 - 5". A great badge. Don't miss it.

A wonderful shield ladder badge worn by a veteran of the 95th Illinois Infantry. The hanger on this badge is clear. The shield has "Co. I - 95th Ill. Vol. Inf.". There is a 17th Corp and 16 Corp corp symbols under the writing.

1913 Virginia at Gettysburg Infantry Badge

A very hard to find 1913 Virginia at the 50th Anniversary of Gettysburg badge issued to veterans of the Virginia infantry! The state of Virginia issued three badges to it's veterans at the 50th Anniversary at Gettysburg. The cavalry badge(yellow ribbon) is the most encountered badge. The artillery badge has a red ribbon and the infantry badge has a blue ribbon. The infantry badge is the hardest badge to find! There are no rips or tears in this ribbon. The gold writing is weak.

1889 Survivors of the 23rd PA Gettysburg Badge

A great badge from the early Gettysburg reunions! This badge was worn by survivors of the 23rd Pennsylvania Vols during Pennsylvania Days at Gettysburg in 1889. The hanger is made of brass. A red ribbon hangs from it with a Sixth Corp badge attached to the center of the ribbon. Also on the ribbon it says "Surviors of the 23rd PA. Vols. - Penna. Days - Gettysburg. Sep't 11th and 12th, 1889". A fringe is attached to the ribbon. The badge is approximately 7 1/2 inches long. The pin is broken on the back of the hanger.

1913 South Dakota 50th Ann. Gettysburg Badge

One of the most difficult 1913 Gettysburg state badges to find. Only 135 South Dakotans attended the 1913 Gettysburg reunion. This badge was worn by John Nelson, Co. H, 1st Minnesota Infantry. This is written in period ink in the back of the drop of the badge! The 1st Minnesota had a great Gettysburg record.
The hanger has "Delegate" on it. The second piece is a disc with a paper insert. Some of the delegates wrote their name on this disc. The ribbon is red, white, and blue. Written on the ribbon in gold is "Fiftieth Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg 1863-1913". The drop is celluloid with the South Dakota capitol on it. The badge is made by The Whitehead & Hoag Co.

An absolutely beautiful 50th Anniversary badge worn at the 1913 Gettysburg reunion by members of the Lincoln Post, No. 11, Newark, New Jersey. The hanger on this badge is a brass material with "Newark, N.J." on it. The ribbon is red, white , and blue and has Abraham Lincoln's profile. Written on the ribbon in gold is "50th Anniversary Battle of Gettysburg - Lincoln Post, No. 11, G.A.R., Dep't of N.J., 1913". The drop is a celluloid drop with a GAR membership badge. The badge was made by The Sommer Badge Co., 239 Halsey St., Newark, NJ. The badge is approximately 6 1/4 inches long.

A nice 1890 GAR state encampment badge from Des Moines, Iowa. The hanger has a GAR lapel type pin with "April 1890" on it. A red ribbon hangs from the hanger. The drop is shaped like a cartridge box. On the drop is "Member of the 16th Encampment - Dept. Iowa - Des Moines" and "U.S." on a simulated box plate. Great badge.

A hard to find ribbon worn by Union Ex-Prisioners of War at a Des Moines, Iowa encampment. Written on the ribbon is "1861-1865 - Ninth Annual Convention - Iowa Association Union Ex-Prisoners of War - "Yeou Yanks Stand Back Thar!" - Des Moines, Iowa - April 7 and 8, 1890.". the ribbon is approximately 8 3/8 inches by 2 3/8 inches. On the back of the ribbon is written "Compliments of the President T. Beaumont"! Great ribbon.

12th Illinois Cavalry 1913 Gettysburg Ribbon

This is one hard to find Gettysburg ribbon! This great ribbon was presented compliments of H. Calkins, Co. I, 12th Illinois Cavalry at the 1913 50th Gettysburg Reunion. The ribbon is approximately 8 3/4 inches by 2 1/4 inches. On the ribbon is a likenes of H. Calkins. Written on the ribbon is "Compliments of H. Calkins, Co. I - Gettysburg - Fifty years ago today - We all were there - In squadron square - To meet the foe in the morning. - But now we meet - And as friends greet - With none of war's sad warning! 12th ILL. CAVALRY".
Homer Calkin joined the Independant McClellan Cavaly in October, 1861. He transferred to the 12th Illinois Cavalry in December, 1862. He was mustered out April, 1866. The ribbon was glued in a book and has six spots of glue attaching it to paper on the back of the ribbon.
