Couple on Lookout Mtn. J.B. Linn Cabinet Card

SOLD!!! A really hard to find cabinet card by J.B. Linn on Lookout Mountain. This cabinet card has a couple sitting out on the famous Lookout Mountain overhang. You can see the Tennessee River in the back ground. On the back of the card is written "Lookout Mountain Views, Photographed and Published by J.B. LINN, Lookout Mountain, Tennessee." There is a list of stereoviews for sale on the back. The reason you don't see many of these cabinet cards is because stereoviews were more popular at this time. Don't miss this one!

SOLD!!! A very nice cabinet card of two Spanish American War soldiers sitting on Umbrella Rock on Lookout Mountain. The back mark on the cabinet card is "Hardie Bros., Photographers, Lookout Mtn., Tenn.". The card is approximately 6 1/2 inches by 4 1/4 inches.

SOLD!!! A great photo post card of World War 1 soldiers sitting on Umbrella Rock on Lookout Mountain. There are two soldiers sitting on the rock with the Tennessee River in the background. The photo post card is approximately 5 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches.

SOLD!!! A great photograph of Frank I. Phillips and Rachel Demaris Phillips on Umbrella Rock on Lookout Mountain. You can see the Tennessee River in the background. On the back of the card is written "Frank Ianithis Phillips - Rachel Demaris Phillips - Umbrella Rock on Top of Lookout Mt - Chattanooga Tenn. 1910 - Mothers Parents". The photo is approximately 5 1/2 inches by 4 inches. The card the photo is mounted on is approximately 9 inches by 7 inches.

SOLD!!! A great photo of an unidentified Union soldier taken at Vicksburg, Mississippi after the seige! This soldier is wearing an older frock coat. The coat has the attachments for shoulder scales. The backmark is the "Washington Gallery, Odd Fellow Hall, Vicksburg, Miss.".

Armed Union Pennsylvania Cavalry CDV

SOLD!!! A nice CDV of an armed Union cavalry soldier. The cavalry soldier has his overcoat hanging on the banister to the right of him. He is holding his cavalry sabre and you can see his scabard on his right side. The backmark on this CDV is "J. Cremer & Co., Artists, No. 18, South Eighth Street, Philadelphia".

Officer with Presentation or Medical Sword CDV

SOLD!!! A really nice CDV of an officer with a presentation or a medical sword. This nice CDV has tinted cheeks on the officer. Looking at the sword, it certainly looks like a medical sword but I can't actually see the "MS" but it is probably there. A really nice CDV.

Capt. Abram L. Whiteside - 93rd Indiana Inf. CDV

SOLD!!! Great CDV of Captain Abram Latham Whiteside of the 93rd Indiana Infantry. The backmark is "R.A. Balch's Star Photograph Gallery, Nos. 219 and 221 Main Street, Memphis, Tenn.". This photograph was taken fight before the 93rd Indiana joined the Vicksburg campaign. His son Marcus Whiteside was a Sargent in the 93rd Indiana and then became a Captain of the 52 U.S.C.T. at Vicksburg.

Gates of the Gettysburg National Cemetary CDV

SOLD!!! A really neat CDV of the Gettysburg National Cemetary. The backmark on this CDV is "H.Bishop, PHOTOGRAPHER, Chambersburg, Pa.". Please note the large eagles on the columns at the gate. These were taken down for cleaning and disappeared! The current eagles are smaller copies.

Encampment of 43 Mass. at Newbern, NC Albumen

SOLD!!! This is a very large albumen of the encampment of the 43rd Massachusetts Infantry on March 12, 1863 at Newbern, North Carolina. This great photo has officers and men standing and sitting around tents and trees. The actual photograph is approximately 9 inches by 11 inches. The photo is mounted on a cardboard backing that measures approximately 11 1/2 inches by 15 inches, and the period wooden frame it is in measures approximately 15 inches by 18 3/4 inches. On the cardboard backing is some great information. The albumen was photographed by Lt. G.H. Nickerson. The Boston Light Infantry logo is in the middle of the lower photograph. Also on the cardboard is "Camp Rogers, Encampment of the 43rd Regiment Mass. Vols. - Newbern, N.C. - March 12, 1863". If you like North Carolina Civil War items, this would be a great addition to your collection!

Charles Devin Post 27 G.A.R. Large Photograph

SOLD!!! A great photo of eight GAR veteran officers of the Charles Devin Post 27 at their 50th Anniversary celebration.On the back in period ink it says "Charles Devins Post 27 G.A.R. Nov 16th, 1920 at the 50th Anniversary celebration". In pencil on the back it says "Front row- 2nd from right - J.E. Nichols - 1st from right - Henry W. Putnam". The photograph is approximately 8 1/2 inches by 6 9/16 inches. The cardboard backing is approximately 12 inches by 10 inches.

Comrades at Mass. Post 27 @ Soldiers Monument

SOLD!!! A great, large photograph of identified comrades of Post 27, GAR at the dedication of the Soldiers Monument at Douglas & East Douglas, Massachusetts. The dedication was September 19, 1908. John E. Nichols is the second from the right on the front row. The photograph is approximately 8 inches by 6 1/4 inches. The cardboard backing is approximately 11 7/8 inches by 9 7/8 inches. On the back all of the men are identified in period ink. Written in period ink is "Comrades of Post 27 G.A.R. and guests at the Dedication of the Soldiers Monument at Douglas & East Douglas - Sept. 19th-1908. Left to right sitting - Thomas A Montague - Post 10, Emora Harris Post 27, Comdr Danford Johnson Post 27, Adjt J. Edward Nichols Post 27, William Brown Post 27. Left to right standing - Rev. Alber TylerOxford, Mass, S.V.C. Silas Newton Post 27, Emory D. Moore Post 27, Scott Edgerton Post 10". The photograph was taken by Moon Co. - Worchester, Mass.

GAR Veterans at Monument Dedication Photo

A great photo of GAR veterans at the Westminister, Massachusetts monument dedication. James E. Nichols, 51 Massachusetts Infantry is fourth from the left on the front row. All the veterans are in GAR uniforms with badges. You can see the monument in the background. Note the color bearer holding the post flag! This is one of four photographs that came from the James E. Nichols group. The photograph is approximately 8 3/8 inches by 6 inches on a card board backing approximately 8 inches by 10 inches.

A great photograph of James E. Nichols in front of his patriotic house! Nichols served in the 51st Massachusetts Infantry from 9/25/1862 until he was mustered out on 07/27/1863. He was living in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts in the 1890 census. He was born in Oxford, Mass. I have a group of four photographs with Nichols in the photograph. This photograph shows Nichols who must have been a very patriotic man standing in front of his house. Look at the large flag and all the patriotic bunting on his home. On the back of the photograph is "Novelty Photo - For Duplicates - F. Hayes, Beverly, Mass.". The photograph is approximately 4 7/8 inches by 6 7/8 inches. The cardboard backing is approximately 8 inches by 10 inches.
