General Logan GAR Metal Canteen

SOLD!!!
 
A really neat metal canteen with General John Logan's likeness on one side.  On the other side is "G.A.R. Souvenir" and "We Drank From The Same Canteen".  The Canteen is approximately 2 1/4 inches wide and still has the canteen "strap" attached.  These are almost always missing. 

Confederate Veterans at Buckingham Courthouse, Virginia Postcard

A great postcard of Confederate veterans posed in front of the Buckingham, Virginia Courthouse in 1908.  Written on the side of the card is "Confederate Veterans - A Photograph taken at the Unveiling of the Confederate Soldiers' Monument taken at Buckingham C.H., June 30, 1908".  A photo of Stonewall Jackson is on the building behind the veterans and notice the black man standing by the tree on the left.


Wonderful Letter signed by General Longstreet

A wonderful letter written by General James Longstree, Lee's old War Horse!  The letter is dated 1890 and is a reply on a question about information on the Knoxville, Tennessee campaign.  Written on the other side of the letter is information on Newton Camrom, the writer of the original letter to General Longstreet.  Camron talks about his participation in the Knoxville campaign.  A great letter from one of the premire Confederate generals!

1900 Confederate Veteran Sam Davis Calendar

A great calendar published by the "Confederate Veteran" magazine and distributed for advertising.  The calendar has an image of the Sam Davis statue on the front and the monthly calendars starting in March 1900.  Written on the front of the calendar is "Sam Davis - A Typical Confederate Hero - Confederate Veteran - Nashville, TN ".  There are a quote or two but I won't write them here.  On the back is a large advertisement for the "Confederate Veteran" magazine. 

North Carolina Wooden Tarheel Foot

One of neatest North Carolina items I have ever owned!  This wonderful wooden tar heel foot is approxiamtely 13 1/2 inches tall and approximately 5 inches wide at its widest point.  It just surfaced coming out of a 30 year collection!  Cut in the shape of a foot, the wood has a black tar heel with "61 - 65 - First at Bethel - Last at Appomattox - THE TAR HEELS - Furnished 127,000 Soldiers - LOST 40,275 - ___t. Furthest. Longest." written on the foot.  This is the real deal and a must for any North Carolina collector!

1929 UCV Charlotte, North Carolina Mirror

A highly unusual item from the 1929 United Confederate Veterans reunion held in Charlotte, North Carolina. The mirror is approximately 2 5/8 inches wide. Written on the mirror is "Confederate ReUnion - 1929 - Charlotte, N.C." in blue. There is a small push to the celluloid between the Con in Confederate and the Char in Charlotte. The mirror itself has some glazing. These type of items are much more difficult to find than the national badges!

A neat spoon with the Confederate Monument at Winchester, Virginia on it. The spoon has "Confederate Monument - Winchester, VA." with a likeness of the monument on the spoon. The spoon is sterling as noted on the back of the spoon. The spoon is approximately 4 1/4 inches long.

1st Minnesota Infantry Ided Knife

A great knife identified to Milo R. Jackson, 1st Minnesota Infantry, Co. I. The knife is approximately 2 3/4 inches long/ On one side is "Milo R. Jackson, Co. I 1st Minn. Inf.". On the other side is a set of crossed rifles with "Co. I" on it and an eagle with a shield. Neat knife you don't see very often with a great unit!

50 Anniversary Bookmark - Battle of Lexington, MO

A wonderful bookmark given to participants of the 50th reunion of the battle of Lexington, Missouri. The front of the brass type metal bookmark has a Confederate battle flag with "1861 - 1865" written on it. On the back of the bookmark is written "Souvenir of 50th Anniversary Battle of Lexington, MO. - Sept. 11, 1861 - 1911 - Compliments of E.J. McGrew". A very hard to find reunion piece!

Nathan Bedford Forrest 1901 Reunion Spoon

SOLD!!! An incredible spoon sold at the 1901 UCV national reunion held in Memphis, Tennessee. This great spoon has an enameled portrait of General Nathan Bedford Forrest on the handle of the spoon. In the bowl of the spoon is "Confederate Reunion - Memphis, Tenn. - May 1901". The spoon is sterling as marked on the back of the spoon. This one will go fast!!!

Cigarette Box for the IRISH BRIGADE Survivors

An incredible leather cigarette box presented at a dinner for the 33 survivors of the Irish Brigade and the battle of Fredericksburg! The box was made for Fatima, Turkish Blend Cigarettes. The bottom slides into the top. On the top is in gold letters "Dinner to the 33 Survivors Of the IRISH BRIGADE Tendered By The 69th Infantry in Commeration Of Fredericksburg, 1862 - Dec. 18, 1912". The box is approximately 3 inches by 2 5/8 inches by 1 1/4 inches. What an incredible find!!! How many Irish Brigade items come on the market?


Grand Army of the Republic Slouch Hat

A nice slouch hat worn by members of the Grand Army of the Republic. This hat has the sewn on GAR insignia. agold tassels surround the hat and hang in the front. The hat is a black or extreemly dark blue felt and has the hat band inside. There is no maker stamped in the hat band.

21st North Carolina Infantry Identified Group

SOLD!!! Here is a group of items that belonged to a Confederate Veteran named William R. Allen. Interesting display of personal items that includes: 1) His circa 1890's or so fancy shaving mug in excellent condition. 2) His eye glasses and leather case with a medallion that was copied from the elusive one cent Confederate States of America coin. The leather case is in fine condition, and was made by Buxton and appears to be turn of the century. The eye glasses are prescription, also dating to the turn of the century with a gold filled frame of high quality. 3) A relic condition bullet box with a note saying "Bullet puoch carried by Uncle William Allen in North Carolina Army 1865". The box is in poor condition, missing ends and flap but of crude manufacture consistent with CSA manufacture towards the end of the war. Chek out the crude flap closure! William R. Allen enlisted in Co. I, 21st North Carolina Infantry on June 5, 1861. He was captured on April 16, 1865 at Sailor's Creek, VA and stayed at Newport News prison Until released after taking the oath of alligance on June 27, 1865. He was from Stokes County, North Carolina and made the rank of Corporal on January 31, 1865. His family reported he dies around 1911. The 21st North Carolina was a hard fighting unit in Jackson's Corp. They fought from 1st Bull Run until Appomatox! What a great group from a hard fightin unit and a man that served for four years in some of the biggest battles og the war including GETTYSBURG!!!

Large Gray Hat UCV Badge

SOLD!!! A great hat badge sold at Civil War veteran reunions. This hat is gray and was probably sold at the Confederate veterans reunions. There is a blue hat similar to this hat which was likely sold at the GAR encampments. The hat is attached to an eagle hanger. The badge is approximately 3 inches tall and 2 3/8 inches wide.

1909 Nathan Bedford Forrest Letter Opener

SOLD!!! These great letter openers are getting hard to find without chips or cracks! The letter openers have a bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest on the top. The letter openers were made in Germany of celluloid. The letter opener has "N.B. Forrest Camp 215 - USCV - Confederate Reunion, Memphis, 1909". The letter opener is approximately 10 inches long. On the back of the bust is "Made in Germany".
