An identified ladder shield badge from a hard fighting east coast Gettysburg unit! This ladder shield badge was worn by George Degetz of the 121 Pennsylvania Infantry. The shield drop has a Fifth Corp emblem! This hard fighting unit's battle history encluded Fredericksburg, Mud March, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, and Appomattox. At Gettysburg on July 1, 1863, 263 men were engaged and only 84 reported for duty at the end of the day.
