A great badge sold at the 1887 GAR National Encampment held in St. Louis, Missouri. The two piece badge has a large eagle with a very long pin on the back. The drop is approximately 1 3/4 inches wide. On the front of the drop it says "21st National Encampment G.A.R. - Souvenir St. Louis 1887". There are cavalry, infantry, and artillery soldiers on the drop. On the back of the drop it says "To commemorate the greatest re-union of G.A.R. veteran soldiers since the Civil War - The proceeds from the sale of this medal are donated to the Grant Monument Fund by the Executive Committee St. Louis 1887.". This is a great badge and is hard to find with the pin attached. Item #: 13785 |
