This is a great photograph of Lt. C.C. Grace of the 12th Georgia Infantry. The 12th Georgia was a great hard fighting unit. Lt. Grace was captured at Spotsylvania on May 10, 1864. He was one of the 600 Confederate officers exposed to fire from Charleston at Morris Island, S.C. The photograph is slightly larger than a CDV and is approximately 4 3/8 inches by 3 1/2 inches. The photographer tinted the photograph gray. You can see the yellow or egg based color of CDVs or albumens so there is no question this is an early photograph.
