While North Carolina had many men who served the Confederacy, you just don't see North Carolina identified ladder badges on the market. Not only is there a ladder badge but also an engraved Southern Cross. T.H. Proctor was in Co. K, 23 North Carolina Infantry. He was wounded and captured at Gettysburg. The ladder badge is as good as it gets with Proctor's name on it and 23 N.C. CSA with a Confederate flag. The engraved Southern Cross is a Crankshaw with a pin back. The jeweler engraved his name upside down. I bet T.H. wasn't so happy when he picked it up! This wonderful grouping recently came from the family! Don't wait on this one!
