He rode with Forrest!!! Here is a great Confederate veteran business card from Dr. G.B. Malone, Surgeon, Company A, C.V.(Confederate Veteran). This card was pre-UCV or 1889. This great card has a third national Confederate flag and Malone's information on it. The card is approximately 4 1/4 inches by 2 1/2 inches.

Malone first enlisted in Co. E, 9th Tennessee Infantry. He was discharged due to his young age. Determined to fight he served for a year in Reno's Battery. His first battle was Shiloh and he was struck by a cannon ball. After the infantry and artillery he decide maybe the cavalry was a better way to fight the war! He joined Co. H, 12th Tennessee Cavalry. He saw action with Forrest in the battles of Athens, Sulpher Trestle, Pulaski, Franklin, the raid to Memphis, and many other minor battles. He was captured March 9, 1863 and was sent to Camp Douglas. He escaped on April 27th with three comrades, and made his way back to his command. After the Confederate surrender, Malone went to school and became a Doctor. He served as the Surgeon of Co. A in Memphis and as Chairman of the Association of Medical Officer of the Army and Navy, at the Confederate Reunion, in Memphis, March 1, 1901.
