Here is a really nice Ohio Civil War Veterans Medal. These were presented by the State of Ohio to Civil War veterans. This medal was presented to Nicholas D. Palmer, Corporal, 80 Ohio Infantry, Co. E. Palmer mustered in in Nov. 1861 and mustered out Aug. 1865. The 80th Ohio was a hard fighting western regiment. They fought at Corinth, Iuka, Raymond, Jackson, Vicksburg, Mission Ridge, Sherman's March to the Sea, and Bentonville. This man made it all! The medal has taken a dark chocolate patina.
