A great letter written on Wheeler's Confederate Cavalry letterhead to Col. A.C. Oxford from William T. Marshall.  The letter is dated April 10, 1914.  The contents of the letter is

 

 "My dear comrade,

 

It gives me great pleasure to have you herewith your commision as Alternate for Camp A, Wheeler's Confed. Cav. to the reunion at Jaxville (Jacksonville, Fl), May 6-7 & 8th, and hope it will find favor with you.  Our Camp leaves Atlanta May 5th 9:30 pm and on our arrival will mak our head qtrs at Col R. Cay's residence 1249 Riverside Ave.  Can you not arrange to meet us here and go with us.

The letter is on Wheeler's Confederate Cavalry letterhead and the color of the paper is yellow.  A.C. Oxford was in the 8th Confederate Cavalry, Company D and served with General Wheeler.  Oxford was quite the ladies man at the reunions and was wounded numerous times but never captured.  A fact he was very proud of!  

 

The photograph of Oxford was copied of the web and I can send a copy of his record and photo with the letter.
