A great photograph of Lt. Charles M. Harvey of Company "K" of the 15th Illinois Cavalry.  Harvey started his Civil War career as a private in Smith's  Company, Illinois Independent Cavalry.  He moved to the 15th Illinois Cavalry in December 1862.  He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant in January 1863 and 1st Lieutenant in July 1863.  he mustered out in December 1864.  This great photograph has Harvey seated on Lookout Mountain in his uniform, wearing a kepi, and holding a pair of binoculars.  Written on the photograph is period ink is "Chas. M. Harvey".  The backmark on the image is B. Kindblade, Photographic Artist, Geneva, Ill.".  A green three cent tax revenue stamp is attached to the back of the image.  Written on the back of the image is "Chas. Harvey at Lookout Mountain during Civil War 1864".  Also there is other information on Harvey written in more modern ink. 


Company "K" - Formerly Sherer's Independent Company (which see)--served detached at Headquarters, Right Wing 14th Army Corps, Dept. of the Cumberland, to January, 1863. Headquarters 20th Army Corps, Army Cumberland, to October, 1863. Headquarters 11th and 12th Army Corps to April, 1864. Headquarters 20th Army Corps, Army Cumberland, to June, 1865.
