SOLD!!! A nice image of a hard to find general. A bust view of General Hugh Thompson Reid. The backmark is "Barr & Young, Army Photographers, Fort Pickering, Memphis, Tennessee." In period ink is written "Genl Reid - Iowa". Reid entered in the Union army as colonel of the 15th Iowa Infantry, a Keokuk regiment. He was badly wounded at Shiloh. He was promoted to brigadier general on April 9, 1863 and commanded a brigade of Negro and white troops of the XVII Corps in the Vicksburg campaign. Item #: vm633 |
