A wonderful identified shield/ ladder badge from the 24th Iowa Infantry. Adam Woodruff mustered in the 24th Iowa on July 30, 1862 and mustered out July 17, 1865. This great Western unit was called "The Iowa Temperance Regiment". They fought in Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Virginia. Port Hudson, Champion's Hill, Vicksburg, Red River expedition, Winchester, and Cedar Creek were some of the battles the 24 Iowa participated in and Adam Woodruff was there for all of them!
