Great CDV of Captain Abram Latham Whiteside of the 93rd Indiana Infantry. The backmark is "R.A. Balch's Star Photograph Gallery, Nos. 219 and 221 Main Street, Memphis, Tenn.". This photograph was taken fight before the 93rd Indiana joined the Vicksburg campaign. His son Marcus Whiteside was a Sargent in the 93rd Indiana and then became a Captain of the 52 U.S.C.T. at Vicksburg.
