These badges were awarded to Massachusetts soldiers that answered the call to arms by President Lincoln in 1861. On the hanger is "Massachusetts Minute Man 1861". On the drop is the seal of Massachusetts and on the back is a statement of why the badge was awarded. On the rim is "ISSAC PIERCE, CORPL.1st.LT.BAT.". Pierce served with the 1st Massachusetts Light Battery and the 11th Batt. Massachusetts Light Artillery. Nice identified badges are getting hard to find.
