A nice image of Lt. Albert Potthoff of the 43rd Illinois Infantry.  Potthoff mustered in as 1st Lieutenant and Quartermaster in December 1861.  He mustered out in December 1864.  There is no backmark.  Written in period ink on the back of the image is "Very Truly Yours, Albert Potthoff, Lieut. 43d Ill. Inf. & A.A. Qtr. - Post of Little Rock, Ark.".

Regiment lost during service 8 Officers and 75 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 2 Officers and 161 Enlisted men by disease. Total 246.
