The 1946 badge is a two-piece bronze badge with an imprinted backing ribbon. The top suspension bar is a representation of the eagle from the membership badge. Hanging by five chain links from the top bar is the pendant, which is circular. The pendant is inscribed "Commander in Chief Hiram R. Gale" around his portrait. The gold backing ribbon is imprinted in black "80th National Encampment G.A.R. - Indianapolis, Ind. - August, 1946". There were only 83 delegates at this reunion.
