This badge is an extremely difficult badge to find.  This is the first in the series of badges the United Daughters of the Confederacy started to reward decendants of Confederate veterans.  This badge is boxed and identified.  The ribbon is in the best shape I have ever seen in this series of badges.  On the drop is a castle and written on the badge is "For Service Spanish War 1898".  On the back of the drop is a Confederate battle flag in a wreath.  Written on the back is "United Daughters Confederacy To The S.W.V. (Spanish War Veterans)".  An origional box comes with this beautiful badge!  On the front of the box is "The United Daughters of the Confederacy".  Written in period ink on the back of the box is "Hugh Mile Spain".  Inside the box the badge maker is listed "A.H. Dondero, Inc. - 730 17th Street, Northwest - Washington, D.C.".  This badge has everything - rarity, beauty, a box, and an identification!
